YOU ARE A NOBODY ... MAY 13TH, 2014

YOU ARE A NOBODY … MAY 13TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

If we are caught in the dilemma of who runs this great land?
The Prime Minister or the Supreme Court marching band?
We should do something soon to straighten out these national affairs,
Or can we just carry on as if really, no one cares?

Those who want medically assisted death are just ignored,
Various organized religions say this idea should be scorned,
And you too could get a Senate appointment till you're seventy five,
But by then, many of us common folk may not still be alive.

These ideas can only be discussed in high-up Ottawa far away,
Without binding referendums, our influence is nil in what they say,
Get those thoughts out of your head because changes are not allowed,
You are just a nobody in the far-away Toronto crowd.

PUBLIC DOUBT ... MAY 12TH, 2014

PUBLIC DOUBT … MAY 12TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

Our Supreme Court won't allow Senate changes that they don't like,
I guess Harper's Quebec appointee is not exactly their type,
And changes to Pierre Trudeau's Charter is just not allowed,
A difference of opinion from two Ottawa crowds.

If we had binding referendums, we could solve these situations,
Wouldn't have to suffer these legal ongoing frustrations,
We could leave it to the people -- not political appointees,
And we the people wouldn't have to get down on our knees.

So our Supreme Court make the big decisions -- not the prime minister,
With these different opinions; can we avoid something sinister?
Should we do something soon to figure these problems out?
Maybe get binding referendums and no need for public doubt.

TRY TO THINK ... MAY 11TH, 2014

TRY TO THINK … MAY 11TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

In order to improve, we need to change Pierre Trudeau's Charter,
Organized parties can turn you or I into political martyrs,
Because political parties turn into religions on election days,
And parties who win don't need to listen to what we say.

We need binding referendums to impress those at the top,
To compel the changes we need and appointing senators should stop,
We need medically assisted death for those who are in need,
We need those at the top to pay attention, to react and to heed.

Therefore party politics like religions, should be avoided,
Fair democracy for all should be the rule provided,
Common sense and peace should be the rules by which we play,
In the meantime, try to think and have a good day.

A FRIGHTFUL MESS ... MAY 7TH, 2014

A FRIGHTFUL MESS … MAY 7TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

This is extremely important when we have idiots in charge,
And we can’t get rid of them as they huff and they puff and they barge,
We have no recall system for these frightful politicians,
We have to wait for a distant election date as we hide our suspicions.

We should change our Charter Constitution, which is not allowed,
For binding referendums and recall because they all feel so proud,
Our good politicians are the ones that should come out about this,
But our appointed Supreme Court wont let them -- unlike the Swiss.

Our media moguls should also cause a giant mega fuss,
Because this is something important that we should all discuss,
And compulsory voting like Australia should be added in,
We should not have to wait around to take it on the chin.

UNKNOWN ELECTION DAYS MAY 4TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN
Some of our politicians are renowned for having cold feet,
They're party members and therefore avoid political defeat,
And no binding referendums or compulsory voting days,
And medically assisted death is in constant delays.

And those in the appointed Senate stay where they are,
Until they are seventy five, somewhere in the future far,
And what the Supreme Court decides about this, cannot be wrong,
We never know the next election date so therefore we are strong.

We need to think because we've been told that this is democracy,
By managed media moguls and other bureaucracies,
They say we don't need a new constitution and show some respect,
We have to wait because they will tell us who to elect.

POLITICIANS PLEASE TAKE NOTE ... MAY 3RD, 2014

POLITICIANS PLEASE TAKE NOTE… MAY 3RD, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

If we can't make changes to the appointed Senate, then they win,
Therefore in constitutional affairs, we are legally pinned,
We have to rewrite Pierre Trudeau's Charter and do it soon,
Or more stupid Senate scandals could start and eventually ruin.

I feel I should apologize for bringing this to your attention,
Don't want to embarrass those in high places with all this tension,
We need someone to step out of the woods to write a new Constitution,
If he/she does it right; it could be our eventual solution.

We need binding referendums and medically assisted death,
Words not spoken in high places even in their last breath,
We need compulsory voting because less than half of us vote,
Why is it so difficult to get those in high places to take note?

NEW CANADIAN CONSTITUTION ... MAY 2ND, 2014

BETTY 2010.JPG

NEW CANADIAN CONSTITUTION  … MAY 2ND, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN

An appointed Senate full of friends does not make sense,
An appointed Supreme Court that cannot change makes it more dense,
Pompous Senate appointees who can stay till they are seventy five,
Few Canadians know what they do other than they stay alive.

So the idea of political change cannot be arranged,
This is banned by High Court edicts and this is what is strange,
But someone should do something or say something or complain,
We need a new Constitution to avoid this political pain.
