WE NEED A POWERFUL POLITICIAN...   APRIL 27TH, 2015

The Americans still have the death penalty -- good for them,

And they're not afraid to use it on those whom they condemned,

Canada has no death penalty -- not politically correct,

Appointed Senate stays and they're not worried about who we elect.

While some of our judges can decide on a publication ban,

Reasons unknown, hidden from the public in a hierarchal plan,

And we don't have death with dignity because that too is banned,

We have no binding referendums so nothing can be planned.

So we need some powerful politician to rewrite the constitution,

Give us back some power, referendums and maybe a solution,

We are so politically correct and appointed-senate soft,

No capital punishment or death with dignity from those aloft.

We have an extremely great country but we have problems too,

Our doctor-assisted-death solution is long overdue,

For some hidden reason, our politicians refuse to talk,

As though this subject is forbidden so they stay silent and gawk.

Even the journalists seldom if ever write about this,

We just can't have death-with-dignity like the Swiss,

My big problem is that I don't know when I'm going to die,

Its not just the when; its the where, the how and the why.

And we can't turn our appointed Senate into a bingo hall,

Send all those appointees home and no need to stall,

They had to fire three senators for fooling with the books,

Is it possible that some of our appointees were crooks?

How do we get our politicians to pay attention to us?

Are we just the type of people, you might see waiting for a bus?

Because our politicians are in Ottawa or Toronto hidden away,

They want to stay there forever and have little to say.

These elected and appointed politicians don't want to change,

So therefore our doctor-assisted-death will not be arranged,

So go back to bed and have another how-do-we-do-it dream,

Because we need a large death-with-dignity team.

Some of our appointed senators were fired for fiddling with the books,

But none of them ever mentioned death-with-dignity or looked like crooks,

We need a politician who can change things around,

But most pompous preachers don't like this sound.

Parliament closes in June till October and that's great,

Eight European countries and five US states,

Add seventy eight percent of Canadians approve,

They would like to die with dignity when they have to move. 

We are all, that's you and I, just passing through,

Then we die, just like our forefathers when we're due,

But our politicians seem to think that they will never die,

Therefore no need for death-with-dignity or a need to ask why. 

They are all excited because they balanced the budget,

But we still can't have death-with-dignity because its too rigid,

It doesn't matter how many Canadians want it -- they oppose,

Who is really running this outfit; do you suppose?

Here's your big chance Justin, to do like your famous dad,

Though his Charter didn't have binding referendums which was sad,

This is how you can get to the top because the others won't dare,

Referendums and doctor-assisted-death, could likely get you there.

That is where your dad was, all the way to the top,

This is your only route as you watch opposition standings drop,

Even if they read this poem; they still don't have the guts,

They're too busy spending and pretending to make cuts.

The death-with-dignity folks would be glad to join you,

They have no political leaders to get their programmes through,

All the parties are silent on this for some strange reason,

As though death-with-dignity might be Canadian treason.

We have appointed senators that stay till they're seventy five,

Few know who, or why they were appointed or if they are still alive,

Three were recently fired for fooling with the books,

It was a shock to learn that senators were behaving like crooks.

Recall could help us with stupid appointed politicians,

So that we the people would not have to tolerate their dumb ambitions,

But where do we find the man or woman to rewrite our constitution?

We could be compared to environmentalists worked up about pollution?

They won't touch death-with-dignity, binding referendums or recall,

You can ask all you want but all you will get is another stall,

And the rules for appointed senators are only now coming to light,

These have long been accepted and not supposed to give you a fright.

We are lectured by media moguls; what we should think,

Managed truth, with no doctor-assisted death and a wink,

And the Ottawa establishment is our managed upper crust,

No need to vote though and when we will die, we will turn to dust.

And our appointed senators can stay for almost their whole lives,

That's seventy five years and no one really knows how many survive,

And we have no binding referendums and recall is banned,

Just like no death-with-dignity -- at their political command.

Radical thoughts such as these will not be accepted by those who count,

You have to listen to their constant and silent sermon from the mount,

They rule the roost and you have absolutely no power,

You are considered a nobody while they are in the control tower.
