CANADIANS NEED REFERENDUMS … MAY 28TH, 2015

Canadians need a referendum on death-with-dignity soon,

Why is it so difficult to get this past some political goon?

Why is it so seldom mentioned in provincial political stuff?

Why do these politicians just stand and huff and puff?

While citizens all around them face an undignified death,

Many may be in pain and on or near their last breath,

As though this political problem has been cast aside,

Therefore Canadian death-with-dignity will never be tried.

We need binding referendums in the Constitution soon,

So as not to be led by a group of political goons,

Whose decisions can't be questioned or problems mentioned,

And they stay in Ottawa until they are due for a pension.

If one provincial politician in Canada should mention this,

He/She could be famous in his/her political career of bliss,

Because death with dignity is serious Canadian stuff,

Too many of our present politicians are not loud enough.

Because for some strange reason, they've swept this under the rug,

Therefore the upper echelon feel that they are politically smug,

But those of us who are old or soon to die, are not so sure,

And their hidden death-with-dignity is not a cure.

Because doctor assisted death could send a doctor to jail,

And for this reason, the whole system is liable to fail,

Seldom even mentioned by media moguls, so you may not know,

A provincial or national referendum would be good though.

Why are our politicians so reluctant to change?

And death-with-dignity must be considered illegal and strange?

Why is this issue hidden behind closed doors?

Have Canadians been told that this is something they cannot score?

Will this be an election issue or stay forever hidden?

Will it not happen because its forever forbidden?

Who is pulling the strings that has caused these events?

And why are they so extremely reluctant to relent?

For some strange reason, our politicians have been told,

The idea of death-with-dignity has to be put on hold,

Why is this never-mentioned quiet stuff, kept behind closed doors?

And if its never said or told; nobody really knows.

Death with dignity is seldom if ever mentioned in the papers,

Media moguls have decided to wait and leave it till later,

Why is it possible that such an important subject is a mystery?

Is there a connection between this and Canadian history?

Should we or could we, ask our politicians to explain this affair?

Is there some secret hidden reason that we should beware?

Five US States already have death-with-dignity now,

But for some hidden secret reason, our politicians won't allow.

The Supreme Court gave them a year to change the laws,

They haven't done it yet; maybe they have some secret cause,

Not a word spoken or published to help us out in this,

Some people who want to die have gone to see the Swiss.

According to our politicians; death with dignity, doesn't exist,

Is it possible that this maybe something that they missed?

They refused to change the law, despite the Supreme Court,

Maybe they think that death-with-dignity is some illegal sport.

If I read much more about our politicians, I'll get sick,

They refuse a doctor-assisted-death law so they're not too quick,

They go to meetings here and there and discuss what they like,

But death with dignity is something they seem to hate or dislike.

Should assisted suicide and euthanasia be made legal?

Should we have referendums or is that also illegal?

Are these thoughts allowed or are we all going to the loony bin?

Is this something that most religions call a mortal sin?

The religious crowd claim that death-with-dignity is suicide,

Therefor it’s a mortal sin and you are not allowed to decide,

But half of Europe and five US States have it now,

Ottawa still says, no, and they don't want a political row.

A doctor could get fourteen years in prison for helping out,

So go back to sleep and forget what this is about,

The death-with-dignity issue is about who controls this land,

So that in order to die; we don't have to go to Switzerland.

I'm sorry; I should apologize for thinking like this,

Obviously I'm not an establishment type for thinking like the Swiss,

I can't understand why our politicians have swept this under the rug,

And why they seem so comfortable in Ottawa and shrug.

If you are not interested in death-with-dignity now; you will,

Because we are all programmed to die and be stiff and still,

Therefore we have a common future in this regard,

Though this is something that politicians try to disregard.

We need politicians who will tell us what we need to hear?

Though it's death-with-dignity that they all seem to fear,

As if the subject is forbidden in and around where they meet,

And of course, this forbidden subject gives them cold feet.

Death-with-dignity seldom if ever comes up for debate,

This sinful forbidden subject is stopped at the gate,

Or swallowed by a million words here and there,

That buried the subject and they don't know where.

Indeed, you may not have heard about it until now,

Seldom if ever mentioned so can't cause a row,

Between preachers and sinners worried about suicide,

At the time of your death; hope there's a doctor on your side.
