Canadian Senate scandal  … JUNE 15TH, 2013

Our ongoing Senate scandal shows that something is very wrong,

With our sacred untouchable system and appointed throng,

Ottawa elite arristocrats until they are seventy five or die,

And how dare you think of change while they are still alive.

Appointed Canadian senators who don’t have to be elected,

Good job till they’re seventy five and they’re all well protected,

They’re part of an elite Ottawa establishment and enthroned,

Hidden in the Red Chamber Senate establishment almost unknown.

Where binding referendums are considered a mortal sin,

And those who want death-with-dignity are not allowed to win,

Like they told Sue Rodriguez as though they were all wise men,

While she was dying with painful Lou Gehrig’s disease back then.

Death with dignity should be part of our health-care system now,

With graphic details etched on every gravestone somehow,

If we had binding referendums like the Swiss; it could be done,

Proud clear information passed from father to daughter and son.

We’re busy at the moment with government scandals all around,

And if Quebec gets DWD, we better all calm down,

Because our Supreme Court told Sue Rodriguez it can’t happen here,

Maybe it can happen and Quebec will show us us to have no fear.

We need a politician to tell our aristocrats where to go,

These unelected Senate appointees seem to think they run the show,

They are there till they are seventy five and no one knows why,

Nicy cushy elite job with pay and expences up to the sky.

And we are not allowed to notice that something is very wrong,

Or that this undemocratic system has been going on so long.

And now a Senate scandal; that they were fidling with the books,

Media page after page say that its much worse than it looks.

But this is sacred elitist stuff that some say can’t be touched,

Democrasy is not that important and doesn’t need to be clutched

Add to that the fact that Canadians seldom if ever vote,

Therefore nothing can change as Ottawa elitists all gloat.

Why so many odd politicians and why half Canadians vote?

Can’t vote for an appointed senator so are we held by the throat?

Why do party politicians seem to have sold their souls?

Why no DWD as the Ottawa elites just play their role?

Where binding referendums and inquiries are all banned,

And nothing is allowed to change or improve in this great land,

Four US states and half of Europe have DWD now,

But those opposed in Canada always suceed somehow.

The various religions and appointed judges all oppose,

They don’t want any changes to the system and why do you suppose?

The Ottawa aristocrats want things to stay as they are,

And arranging death with dignity, they say, is going too far.

Why are we not allowed to have binding referendums now?

Why is death-with-dignity denied all Canadians somehow?

And they say that the Province of Quebec may have it next year,

Could we go to Quebec and get it too or is this too weird?

Is our appointed Supreme Court the only opposition?

Was the Sue Rodriguez case, the ultimate in their ambition?

Why do Canadians seldom bother to vote in elections?

Why are our politicians so reluctant to make the corrections?

Can we do anything about the Ottawa Senate scandals?

Was the money actually stolen by outerspace vandals?

Am I asking too many questions and should I just shut up?

Is the appointed Senate great or is this a total screwup?

Why is there such opposition to dying-with-dignity here and now?

Is it religions or organizations that refuse to allow?

Why are our politicians so reluctant to change the law?

Why do our appointed senators do nothing but hem and haw?

Do they actually think that they themselves will never die?

So there’s no need to have it all arranged or even apply,

What can we do to get them to recognize death; and talk about this?

And not treat it as nothing and then just delay and dismiss.

If Quebec gets death-with-dignity; can we go there too?

Or will the appointed Supreme Court jump in and say “No queue!”

Will the Sue Rodriguez issue jump back to life?

Dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease in her painful dying strife.

Most Canadians refuse to vote in federal elections,

And those elected want it to stay like that and set up protections,

Therefore changes to the system, are also banned and hidden,

That plus binding referendums are completely forbidden.

And compulsory voting is seldom if ever mentioned,

When Senate appointees are seventy five, they get a pension,

Therefore Ottawa elites are not inclined to rock the boat,

And when it comes to their weekly scandals; they can outvote .

Canadians need a politician who is committed to change,

Think death-with-dignity which should be easy to arrange,

But this is not likely to happen any time soon,

Too many ongoing political scandals this fine June.
