NOT ONE CANADIAN PROVINCE ….    APRIL 10TH, 2015

Preachers on pulpits in strange gowns say suicide is a sin,

Therefore those of us in great pain about to die, cannot win,

Because death-with-dignity is forbidden and never allowed,

And you better accept these rules and keep your head bowed.

Because this is the law of the land and its already enforced,

Because this is what our politicians have already endorsed,

So if you are suffering in great pain and about to die,

Your doctor can't give you suicide assistance and that's why.

It's hard to believe but eventually we will all die,

Though nothing much can be done about this and no one knows why,

Though six US states have death with dignity now,

But not one Canadian province because its not allowed.

We have politicians who will not touch doctor-assisted-death,

They're at meetings in big buildings in Ottawa so no need to fret,

So if you are on your death bed suffering in great pain,

Death with dignity is forbidden so there is nothing to gain.

There's an election coming so they want your vote and a donation,

So when they get reelected they will have a big celebration,

Where death-with-dignity is forbidden and cannot be discussed,

So go back to sleep because they consider themselves the upper crust.

I apologize of course if I disturbed your trend of thought,

But with enough of your donations, an election can be bought,

And your doctor still can't assist you with your death,

According to our politicians; this is good so no need to fret.

Fortunately or unfortunately. I'm getting very old,

And at my age, I tend to feel the heat or the cold,

I would like to make arrangements to die in twenty forty two,

But pagan ideas like this, are considered downright lewd. 

But doctor assisted death, is definitely not allowed,

This is what our Ottawa politicians seem to have vowed,

In other words; we have to die without dignity or class,

These tax-and-spend politicians need a quick kick in the ass.

Things should change and improve but what can we do?

Without binding referendums, we have to wait in a long cue,

I wish they'd do it now and not wait till I'm dead,

Their secret political agenda is something I dread.

Our Ottawa politicians should realize by now,

Their death-with-dignity attitude could cause an awful row,

And doctor assisted death should be legal for us to die,

Though they won't discuss this subject and I don't know why.

Why have we run into this death-with-dignity barricade?

Is this a form of our democracy that has gone to fade?

I guess this is not important unless you are slated to die,

And if you are going to do that in pain; you might wonder why.

Both a good economy and democracy are crucial,

Though the lack of death-with-dignity could be brutal,

Because we don't know the schedule of when we will die,

Because we could die in great pain looking up at the sky.

Unfortunately and eventually, we are all going to die,

And we can't do this with dignity and they won’t say why,

It's our politicians who seem to think, they know it all,

No death with dignity allowed for you -- not even a close call.

Why is this such a big deal -- which way we will die?

Better to go without much pain and look them in the eye,

Someone must have the answer to this, somewhere tucked away,

Or how could this be called democracy -- so far astray?

Some brave provincial premier should decide about this,

Get democracy back again as though it was never missed,

And then we can die with smiles on our faces and just go,

No need to suffer in terrible pain and feel very low.

Our politicians, despite the High Court decisions, are slow to change,

Though they have a whole year; they seem reluctant to arrange,

It seems like the issue is banned from being discussed in high places,

Or hidden quietly and secretly in front of our faces.

We don't have one political party to back doctor-assisted-death,

They have their own political views with a quiet but fiery breath,

What can we do to change this and influence their cause?

Mention half of Europe, Quebec and five US States just because.

Do they think that none of us will eventually die a horrible death?

No severe pain or suffering while we wait to take our last breath,

Therefore we will always agree with them and do what we are told,

Is wanting death-with-dignity, is a sign that we are too bold.

The High Court gave them a year to change the Death-With-Dignity law,

But they seem to look at this issue as a complete flaw,

They're too busy at the moment and may not have the time,

Their war in Syria will cost us a lot more than a dime.

So go back to sleep and forget this Death-With-Dignity stuff,

There may be or may not be, an election and isn't that enough?

Though half of Europe and five US states have it now,

Preachers say its suicide and a sin so it cannot be allowed.

This whole issue should have died or gone to sleep by now,

Instead, it stays around and might be inclined to cause a row,

Why can five US states have it now and we can't?

Should it be federal or provincial; any anti death-with-dignity rant?
