WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? … JULY 5TH, 2014
BY
JAMES BREDIN
I am dumbfounded by the number of my old comrades who are dead,
Because I remember almost every word that they ever said,
We are all merely observers as time and events pass us by,
Caught in our own history and then suddenly, its goodbye.
And we can't prevent the dying no matter what we do,
And we can't get death with dignity though I thought you knew,
But it would be good to get control of our political affairs,
Get some democracy and more justice if someone cares.
But our politicians behave as if we don't exist,
And less than half of us vote so we may have missed,
And every religion is opposed to death with dignity as if it is a sin,
But you didn't know; so where have you been?
